In November 2023, Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works reduced rolled steel production by 6.2% compared to the previous month – to 195.6 thousand tons. This is stated in the press release of the enterprise.
Pig iron production in November fell by 1.7% compared to October to 262.7 thousand tons. Steel output for the month decreased by 4.3% m/m – to 240.8 thousand tons.
In November 2023, Zaporizhstal increased pig iron production by 82.6% compared to November last year. Steel production increased by 2.8 times year-on-year, and rolled products output increased by 2.61 times.
«The increase in the level of production in November 2023 compared to the same period last year is connected with the removal of blast furnace No. 2 from the hot preservation mode and the adjustment of the operating mode of three blast furnaces,» the message states.

In March 2023, Zaporizhstal took blast furnace No. 2 out of forced hot mothballing. At the end of May this year, the plant announced the shutdown of blast furnace No. 3 for a category II overhaul. Investments in the restoration of the unit were planned at UAH 200 million. On June 19, the plant announced the completion of the blast furnace repair and the launch of the blast furnace blower.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2022 Zaporizhstal reduced pig iron output by 54.3% compared to 2021 – to 2.01 million tons. Steel smelting decreased by 61.7% – to 1.49 million tons, and the production of rolled products – by 60.4%, to 1.304 million tons.
