The Cabinet of Ministers has approved regulations on the specifics of electricity import during the autumn-winter period of 2022/2023 under the conditions of martial law in Ukraine.
This was reported by the permanent representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, on his Telegram channel.
“Conditions for the supply of imported electricity to consumers on a market basis, along with additional protection against planned forced shutdowns due to existing balance constraints in the combined power system have been created,” he explained.
According to the representative of the government, the regulation provides for the non-application of measures to limit the selection of electric energy to consumers who are supplied with imported electric energy.
Thus, the Government has created conditions for the supply of imported electricity to consumers on a market basis, along with additional protection against planned forced shutdowns due to existing balance constraints in the power system.
At the same time, in case of application of special shutdown schedules, which are needed to prevent a system accident in the United Energy System of Ukraine as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, the supply of imported electric energy to consumers may be stopped.
Ukraine has already tested the import of electricity in small volumes and now plans to increase it to meet the needs of the population.
As GMK Center reported earlier, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on energy, housing and communal services, Andriy Gerus, said that the government is discussing the idea on provision of business guarantees of non-disconnection of electricity at a capacity equal to the capacity of the European resource imported by this business.
