Sukha Balka repairs equipment during planned stops

Sukha Balka mine, part of the DCH Group, repairs process equipment during scheduled production shutdowns. This is stated in the corporate newspaper DCH Steel.

Last weekend, employees of the service department of section No. 33 repaired the conveyor belt of the batching device at Yuvileyna mine. This equipment is used for loading rock mass and further transportation to the surface.

«The final stage of repair work to restore the metering belt is scheduled for next weekend, and between November 28 and December 1, our specialists carried out preparatory work. The first joint has been glued, and then on December 9 and 10 we will hang the belt and glue the second joint,» said the chief mechanic of the Yuvileyna mine Yevhen Kozakov.

It is planned to replace about 90 square meters of the conveyor belt of the Yuvileyna mine dosing unit. The device is located at a horizon of -1472 meters.

In addition, the repairmen replaced the lining on the deflector pulley of the skip machine. The lining was renewed on the third and eighth streams using German plastic, which is characterized by increased resistance and longer service life.

«All works on the restoration of technological equipment were completed in accordance with the established terms and quality indicators,» the company summarizes.

In September, Sukha Balka restarted production at Frunze mine after almost a year of downtime.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in the second quarter of 2023, Sukha Balka increased its production of saleable ore by 42% q/q – to 260 kt and raw ore by 32% q/q – to around 300 kt.

In 2022, the company commissioned about 10 new blocks with a total capacity of 800 kt of ore.

Sukha Balka mine specializes in underground iron ore mining with a capacity of about 3.1 million tons per year. The mining includes the mines Frunze and the Yuvileyna.
