Fighters use them in special operations behind enemy lines, as well as for surveillance and patrolling in their territory

Metinvest Group handed over another batch of tactical equipment to the Main Intelligence Directorate (MID) – 110 modern thermal imaging sights with a total value of approximately UAH 11 million. This is stated in the company’s press release on the Facebook page.

“These are state-of-the-art devices equipped with sensitive innovative matrices. They were purchased in different countries of the world and delivered to Ukraine in about three months,” the report says.

The devices can be installed as attachments on ordinary optical sights, and can be used separately. Fighters use them in special operations behind enemy lines, as well as for surveillance and patrolling in their territory. The primary purpose of thermal imaging sights is to perform combat missions.

“Every day, the Ukrainian army is being strengthened with the most necessary new equipment. Drones, thermal imagers, and night vision devices give our soldiers an advantage in confronting invaders. These sights were invited by MID specialists back in the summer. However, now they have become even more expedient, because the daylight has decreased, and our fighters need them more often. The enemy does not have such equipment, so it gives our guys a significant advantage,” said the head of the project office of the Metinvest’s CEO, Oleksandr Vodoviz.

As GMK Center reported earlier, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Metinvest Group has handed over 150,000 body armors to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Thus, every tenth body armor in the Armed Forces is made of Metinvest steel or purchased by the Group.

In general, since the beginning of the war, the amount of assistance from Metinvest to Ukraine and Ukrainians has reached more than UAH 2 billion. 1.3 billion of them is directed to support the army and help the military.

During the seven months of 2022, the Metinvest-SMC processed approximately 500 shipments for the needs of the Ukrainian defenders with a total amount of almost 4,000 tons of steel. The company makes plates for bulletproof vests, turbo stoves from steel. Also, the military has already received 25 mobile shelters, which are full-fledged field housing.
