The company continues to expand its product portfolio

In 2024, Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works started production of six new types of sheet and coil products. This is stated in the company’s press release.

In the cold-rolled segment, Zaporizhstal launched four products in 2024, including S250GD coils. It is used for subsequent galvanizing and other coatings, and then for the manufacture of lightweight steel thin-walled structures.

The new products include S215G rolled steel products designed for the production of open and welded metal profiles, sheets and other building structures.

In addition, the company has mastered the technology for producing DC01 coils with a thickness of 2.5 mm and cold-rolled sheets with a thickness of 2.1-2.5 mm in a wide range of grades for the construction industry.

Last year, Zaporizhstal also launched the production of two types of hot-rolled steel. These are:

  • coils and sheets of S355JR/ S355J2 grades with a thickness of 2.75-2.79 mm (used in the production of electric-welded pipes and profiles)
  • 5.0×1500×6000 mm sheet of 09G2/09G2S steel (for the manufacture of structural elements for railway cars).

By the end of 2024, about 14 thousand tons of new products were shipped to consumers from Bulgaria, Poland, Slovakia and the domestic market.

According to Taras Shevchenko, Acting CEO of Zaporizhstal, the company continues to expand its product portfolio. The company is currently working on the development of three more new types of products.

“Ukrainian steelmakers are working against all odds: a shortage of workers, energy supply constraints, partial utilization of production capacities, and a logistics crisis. In these realities, we are not just producing steel products, we are competing and fighting for customers, and in response to customer requests, we are developing new product mixes,” he said.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Zaporizhstal increased its rolled steel production by 18.3% y/y in 2024. The company produced 3.11 million tons of pig iron in the year, up 14.3% y/y, and 2.89 million tons of steel (+17.2% y/y).

Also, Metinvest Group’s steelmaking facilities in Ukraine continue to improve production even in the midst of the war. In 2024, the company launched 20 new types of products, including at Kametstal and Zaporizhstal.
