Zaporizhstal is preparing the air heater of blast furnace №4 for heating

Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works is preparing air heater №12 of blast furnace №4 for heating after major repairs. This is stated in the plant’s press release on the Facebook page.

“Overhaul of air heater №12 on blast furnace №4 began a year ago. We had grandiose plans for this renovation. In particular, we wanted to finish it ahead of schedule. But a full-scale invasion prevented the implementation of this point of the plan. It’s good that Zaporizhstal’s specialists have coped with all the other tasks set for repair,” the report says.

The main work in the repair of the unit was the dismantling of the refractory lining. To complete this stage, specialists dismantled and moved more than 4,000 units of refractories.

Currently, the air heater is prepared for heating, which will last about 30 days.

As GMK Center reported earlier, at the end of August and the beginning of September 2022, Zaporizhstal plant launched two repairs on the BTA-4 line of the cold rolling shop. Specialists of the shop and experts of Metinvest-Promservice carried out tightening of drives and repair of the coil preparation section’s wiring.

Also, since the beginning of the year, Zaporizhstal has saved UAH 900,000 on slab cutting thanks to an automatic gas cutting machine, which was assembled from spare parts by specialists of the hot rolling shop. Such an economic effect was achieved due to a reduction in the amount of cutting in the production of slabs.
