Ukrainian Railways sold 3.3 thousand tons of scrap for UAH 21.7 million

Ukrainian Railways (UZ) successfully sold 3.3 thousand tons of scrap ferrous metals worth UAH 21.66 million. Initially, the railway operator planned to sell 34.5 thousand tons of raw materials for UAH 215 million. The average price per ton of sold secondary raw materials was UAH 6.49 thousand. This is evidenced by the relevant information in the electronic trading system Prozorro.Sale.

A total of 56 lots of raw materials were published, for which 4 auctions were successfully held. UZ failed to sell 31.2 thousand tons of scrap for more than UAH 193.55 million due to an insufficient number of participants in the auctions. All lots are being put up for the second time after an unsuccessful attempt to sell raw materials in early September.

Among the scrap sold are types 501, 500 and 3. These are car body parts and other scrap. The preliminary winner of four auctions is Keramet LLC.

Thus, during September 2023, UZ sold 23.75 thousand tons of scrap for UAH 178.7 million. At the same time, the planned volume of scrap for sale was 55.6 thousand tons for UAH 351.8 million. Most of the raw materials could not be sold due to an insufficient number of participants in the auctions.

From the beginning of 2023 UZ successfully implemented 79.2 thousand tons of scrap ferrous metals worth UAH 467.54 million.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2022, Ukrainian Raiways successfully implemented 113.04 thousand scrap ferrous metals with a total value of UAH 669.98 million. This is 43.8% and 55.4% less, respectively, compared to 2021.

Among the main buyers of raw materials were:

  • Metinvest-Resources – 37 lots (33.28 thousand tons for UAH 178.1 million);
  • Dniprostal – 36 lots (30.34 thousand tons for UAH 155.66 million);
  • Ferolit – 16 lots (12.3 thousand tons for UAH 95.19 million).

In general, the railway year the operator planned to implement 170 thousand tons of scrap. The state company also intended to dismantle 13,000 wagons, the weight of which is partially included in the above figure.
