The railway operator successfully held 8 scrap auctions out of 28 planned

Ukrainian Railways (UZ) successfully sold 6,000 tons of ferrous scrap worth UAH 50.1 million. Initially, the railway operator planned to sell 16.6 thousand tons of raw materials for UAH 100.5 million. The average price per ton of secondary sold raw materials was UAH 6.59 thousand. This is evidenced by the relevant information in the electronic trading system Prozorro.Sale.

In total, 28 lots of raw materials were published, for which 8 auctions were successfully held. UZ failed to sell 10.6 thousand tons of scrap for more than UAH 60 million due to insufficient number of participants in the auctions.

Among the sold scrap are types 501 and 510. These are rails and other scrap. Previously, the winners of the auctions were Keramet LLC, Ferolit, Ukrmet Center LLC, Lux-Postach LLC, Energosteel LLC and Forum Estate-2 LLC.

Thus, during a series of auctions for the sale of UZ scrap on September 18-20, the railway operator sold 20.4 thousand tons of scrap for UAH 157 million. 28 auctions were successfully held out of the planned 85. The total amount that UZ planned to earn from the sales of the relevant lots of raw materials amounted to over UAH 351.8 million.

From the beginning of 2023, UZ successfully implemented 75.84 thousand tons of ferrous scrap worth UAH 445.9 million.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2022, Ukrainian Raiways successfully implemented 113.04 thousand scrap ferrous metals with a total value of UAH 669.98 million. This is 43.8% and 55.4% less, respectively, compared to 2021.

Among the main buyers of raw materials were:

  • Metinvest-Resources – 37 lots (33.28 thousand tons for UAH 178.1 million);
  • Dniprostal – 36 lots (30.34 thousand tons for UAH 155.66 million);
  • Ferolit – 16 lots (12.3 thousand tons for UAH 95.19 million).

In general, the railway year the operator planned to implement 170 thousand tons of scrap. The state company also intended to dismantle 13,000 wagons, the weight of which is partially included in the above figure.
