Ukrainian Railways reduced the payment rate for of semi-railcars use by 10.3% m/m since July

Ukrainian Railways (UZ) from July 2023 reduces the rates of payment for the use of its own semi-railcars by 10.3% compared to the previous month – to UAH 1.3 thousand/day. This is evidenced by data published on the branch UZ’s Center for Transport Logistics’ (CTL) website.

Thus, the rates for the use of semi-railcars in July will be at the lowest level since January 2023. The rates of payment for the use of own pellet carriers remain at the level of June – 450 UAH/day.

According to the CTL, next month the rate for a grain truck will drop to UAH 300/day, while in June grain growers paid UAH 3.65 thousand/day for the use of grain trucks. The rate of payment for a platform of a universal, re-equipped and modernized platform of types 915,968, 969 will be UAH 4 thousand (+2.6% m/m), for a covered railcars – UAH 1.54 thousand (+6.9% m/m), a cement truck – UAH 500 (-16.7% m/m).

In June 2023, usage charge rate of UZ’s own pellet carriers increased by 29% compared to May – up to 450 UAH/day. Rates of payment for the use of semi-railcars in June increased by 7.4% compared to the price in May – up to 1450 UAH/day.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Ukrainian Railways in May 2023 increased export shipments of ferrous metals by 15% m/m and 38.9% y/y – up to 478 thousand tons. Export transportation of iron and manganese ore during May 2023 decreased by 16.8% m/m, and by 32.9% y/y – to 1.38 million tons.

In mid-June, UZ moved 1 million tons of iron and manganese ore. This is 12.8% more compared to the same period in 2022 and 2% up to the first half of May.

In 2022, Ukrainain Railways reduced transportation of iron and manganese ores by 59.2% compared to 2021 – to 41.7 million tons. Volumes of transportation of ferrous metals last year decreased by 57.8% y/y – to 9.2 million tons. In total, during the year UZ transported 150.6 million tons of cargo, which is 52.1% less compared to 2021.

Earlier, UZ announced its intentions to increase prices for services provided by stations and branches at free tariffs by 38.3%. It is about the services provided by the company’s stations and branches – in particular, loading, unloading, weighing, shunting, etc.
