Ukraine will focus on projects to promote economic growth in 2024

Next year, the country will focus on projects to promote economic growth. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, the Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov at the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Multilateral Coordination Platform of Donors for Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure reports.

«In 2022, we focused on the projects that allowed us to survive, in 2023 we began to restore social and critical infrastructure. In 2024, we will focus on projects that will contribute to economic growth,» he said.

According to Kubrakov, the country strives to restore economic stability as much as possible, which means creating opportunities for exports, maintaining critical and social infrastructure, providing security, housing and jobs for citizens.

The official noted that among the identified priorities for recovery, in particular, transport infrastructure, it is about expanding capacities at key border crossing points with the EU and Moldova, as well as railway and port terminals.

The Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine assured that the government continues the implementation of reforms necessary to ensure a favorable investment climate, the rule of law, transparency and accountability, and the building of strong institutions.

The parties discussed the current needs for financing the budget deficit for 2024 and the key elements of the four-year Plan of Ukraine, which the government is developing within the framework of the EU Ukraine Facility program.

In addition, Ukraine, together with the EU and neighboring countries, will work on the infrastructure development of the Danube. Oleksandr Kubrakov announced this earlier in Brussels following negotiations with the European Commissioner for Transport Adina Velyan, Ukrinform informs about it.

According to him, Ukraine is grateful to the European Commission for its efforts to integrate Ukrainian transport routes, including the Danube section, into the pan-European TEN-T transport network.

Kubrakov emphasized that the corridors of solidarity are a critically important project for the economy and agricultural sector of Ukraine, the export and import of the state.

«Together with our Romanian colleagues and other countries in the region, we are working on increasing the capacity of the Danube ports to receive ships of larger tonnage,» he said.

Kubrakov called the development of border infrastructure and the simplification of administrative rules for crossing borders for the export of goods from Ukraine and import operations as the second important topic, which will have a huge economic effect, which especially applies to the borders between Ukraine, Moldova and Romania.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Ukraine continues work on the development of alternative logistics routes for Ukrainian exports. One of the priorities is the development of navigation on the Danube – its Romanian part, in conditions of limited navigation, is important for reorientation. The key directions of work here are speeding up the passage of ships through the canals, increasing the throughput capacity on the Sulina Canal and organizing additional places for the raid transshipment of ships near the Romanian port of Constanţa.
