In money, meanwhile, exports grew by 58.5%

According to the results of January-April 2022, Ukrainian plants reduced the export of ferroalloys by 89.3% compared to the same period in 2021, to 220.21 thousand tons, according to the State Customs Service.

In monetary terms, exports, meanwhile, increased by 58.5%, to $390.9 million.

The share of ferroalloys in Ukraine’s foreign trade was 2.34%. The main export destinations were Poland (60.98%), Turkey (18.58%) and Italy (17.59%).

After Russia’s invasion of the territory of Ukraine, steel plants reduced production to a minimum or frozen it completely. According to the results of the first quarter, ferroalloy enterprises of Ukraine reduced the production of ferroalloys by 2%, to 186 thousand tons.

It is also worth noting that Ukrainian mining companies in January-April reduced exports of iron ore and iron ore concentrates by 8.6% compared to the same period in 2020, to 1.298 million tons.

GMK Center earlier reported that in 2021 Ukraine increased exports of ferroalloys by 7% compared to 2020, to 668.5 thousand tons. In monetary terms, exports of ferroalloys decreased by 82.7%, to $1.04 billion.

Ferroalloys in Ukraine are produced by the Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant, the Zaporizhia Ferroalloy Plant, the Pobuzhsky Ferronickel Plant, the Kramatorsk Ferroalloy Plant, the Pokrovsky Mining and Processing Plant, the Manganets Mining and Processing Plant, and Elektrostal.
