Sukha Balka started production of a new block with reserves of 278,000 tons

The Sukha Balka mine, which is part of the DCH group, started production of a new production capacity with reserves of 277.5 thousand tons of raw iron ore. This is stated in DCH Steel corporate newspaper.

Block 116-122 at the -1420 m horizon is located at the Yuvileyna mine. Preparatory work for the launch of new capacities took half a year. Production is expected for 7 months.

«The new block 116-122 from the «Gnizdo» deposit of the fifth basement on the horizon -1420 m was put into operation on July 5, 2023. The cutting works were carried out by the employees of the precinct №19. The block was prepared for development, adapting to the difficult conditions of wartime,» the message says.

The quality of iron ore in this production facility is high, the average iron content in the massif is 56.83%. As the chief engineer of the mine Mykola Puntus noted, rich iron ore will be extracted for four months, then the percentage of iron will be lower.

«Despite the peculiarity of extracting the deposit, which contains unstable rock that requires additional fastening, the new production unit was handed over within the time specified in the plan,» the company summarizes.

As GMK Center reported earlier, at the end of May 2023, Sukha Balka put into operation a new production capacity with reserves of over 71,000 tons of iron ore. Block 37-45 is located at the -1340 m horizon in the «Main» deposit of the Yuvileina mine. The iron content in the iron ore massif is 59.62%. The new production capacity will be developed during the summer months.

In addition, in April, new production facilities with reserves of 43,000 tons of iron ore mass were prepared for operation at the mine. The iron content in the massif is 58.47%, and the development of the deposit will take 3 months. Another new block 26-30 in the same deposit («Gnizdo») is also prepared for development. Its reserves amount to 31.5 thousand tons with an iron content of 56.42%.

In 2022, Sukha Balka put into operation about 10 new blocks with a total capacity of 800,000 tons of iron ore.

The Sukha Balka mine specializes in underground iron ore mining with a capacity of about 3.1 million tons per year. The mining includes the mines Frunze and the Yuvileyna.
