Sukha Balka mined 931,000 tons of commercial iron ore in 2023

Sukha Balka mine, part of DCH Group, produced almost 931 thousand tons of commercial iron ore in 2023. This was announced by DCH Steel CEO Vitaliy Bash in an address to employees of the company’s assets.

«For the second year in a row, a full-scale war has been going on in the country, and we have to overcome the complications of wartime. Almost 1,000 employees of our companies are now at the front, so our workforces are under constant pressure. However, despite numerous crises – energy, water shortages, lack of qualified personnel – DMZ and Sukha Balka mine continue to operate,» he said.

According to him, in 2023, the mine operated in the mode of maximum resource conservation. In particular, the company repaired equipment at industrial sites on its own and continued to implement the equipment modernization program.

In April, Sukha Balka’s technological transport fleet was replenished with four new loading and delivery vehicles with bucket sizes of 1 m3 and 0.6 m3. The next step is to upgrade the mine skips at Yuvileyna mine.

The resumption of iron ore production at Frunze mine, which was suspended in November 2022 due to constant shelling of energy infrastructure, helped the Group to finish the year with a volume of ore mined of almost 1 million tons.

«Coordinated work of employees of all mining divisions contributed to the production of almost 931 thousand tons of marketable ore in 2023,» sums up the CEO of DCH Steel.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in the second quarter of 2023 Sukha Balka increased production of commercial iron ore by 42% q/q – up to 260,000 tons, raw ore – by 32% compared to the previous quarter, up to about 300,000 tons.

In 2022 Sukha Balka put into operation about 10 new blocks with a total capacity of 800,000 tons of ore raw materials.

The Sukha Balka mine specializes in underground iron ore mining with a capacity of about 3.1 million tons per year. The mining includes the mines Frunze and the Yuvileyna.
