Metinvest SMC shipped steel for the creation of the Memorial to the defenders of Bucha

Steel trading company Metinvest-SMC shipped steel for the creation of the Memorial to the defenders of Bucha, which was installed in the hero city on the anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv region from the Russian invaders. This is stated in the press release of Metinvest.Media.

“At the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine, Bucha became one of the witnesses of the Russian invaders atrocities. A small city in the Kyiv region was occupied by the enemy for 33 days – until March 31, 2022, until the Armed Forces regained control over it. In order to honor the memory of Ukrainians who defended the city and died at the hands of the Russians, a memorial was erected in Buchi,” the message says.

The production company UASTAL was engaged in the design, production of complex decorative structures and installation of the object. Part of the rolled steel for the steel parts of the Memorial was shipped by Metinvest-SMC, in particular, hot-rolled sheet and profile pipes.

The final works on the installation of the Memorial, as well as its ceremonial opening with the raising of the State Flag, took place at the end of March 2023.

On the anniversary of the city’s liberation from Russian forces, Bucha was visited by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and top officials of four countries – Moldova, Slovakia, Croatia and Slovenia.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Kyiv plans to build a bridge that will connect Obolonsky Island and Natalka Park, made of steel from the Mariupol steel plant Azovstal. For the construction of the crossing, almost 300 tons of steel from the Mariupol plant Azovstal, which was produced before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, will be used.

Also, in the fall of 2022, the Hetman Ivan Mazepa corvette, which was built for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was launched in Istanbul, Turkiye. Steel for the production of the corvette hull was shipped from the Mariupol steel plants of Metinvest – Ilyich Iron and Steel Works and Azovstal – even before the full-scale war.
