Metinvest Pokrovskugillia produced 3.1 million tons of coal concentrate in 2023

In 2023, Metinvest Pokrovskugillia produced 3.1 million tons of coal concentrate and sank 20 km of mine workings. Construction of the No. 3 air supply shaft is also underway. Andriy Akulich, CEO of the company, said this in an interview with Orbita TV channel.

According to him, in 2023, Metinvest Group’s Pokrovske site will pay about UAH 4 billion in taxes to the budgets of all levels, including about UAH 700 million in regional taxes.

In 2024 and 2025, Metinvest Pokrovskugillia plans to produce 2.8 million tons of coal concentrate.

«This level is driven by the internal demand of Metinvest Group companies and the nearest markets of Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Unfortunately, the Black Sea ports are not yet open for increased volumes, so we are forced to remain at the level of 2.8 million tons per year. This shapes our mining program – sinking – at the level of about 10-12 km per year,» Andriy Akulych noted.

The company’s CEO said that Metinvest Pokrovskugillia has an approved business plan for 2024. Next year, the company will also start sinking mines. In addition, he noted that the company takes into account external infrastructure constraints, such as the Black Sea ports and the coal market, when making plans for the future.

Metinvest Pokrovskugillia comprises several enterprises of Pokrovske Coal Group, including Pokrovske Mine Administration and Svyato-Varvarinska Concentrator. These enterprises are engaged in raw coal mining, enrichment and further sale in the form of coal concentrate.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Metinvest Pokrovskugillia’s Svyato-Varvarynska processing plant has produced 2.3 million tons of coal concentrate since the beginning of 2022. At the same time, as of the beginning of December last year, the company released 5 million tons of coal.
