Metinvest Pokrovskugillia has produced 2.7 million tons of concentrate since the beginning of the year

Svyato-Varvarinskaya Processing Plant (SVPP), a part of Metinvest Pokrovskugillia, has produced more than 2.7 million tons of high-quality coal concentrate since the beginning of 2023. This is stated in the company’s press release.

«In addition to fulfilling their daily production tasks, SVPP concentrators also work for the future. They implement investment projects and improve the production process. They are only moving forward, no matter how difficult it is in wartime. The most difficult thing now is the repair and replacement of imported equipment. Nevertheless, the enrichment plants continue to protect investment projects and implement them,» the statement said.

As previously reported, Pokrovsk Mine Administration mined more than 5 million tons of coking coal between January and November 2023.

The company has been operating at reduced capacity due to the war and the inability to export products via traditional routes, but production and concentrate output are likely to exceed last year’s figures.

Prior to the full-scale invasion, Metinvest Pokrovskugillia used to sell all of its products to the Ukrainian market, with Mariupol-based Azovstal and Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol as its main customers. After the temporary occupation of the city and the destruction of the plants, part of the coking coal is shipped to operating Ukrainian plants, and the rest is exported to Eastern Europe.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2022 Svyato-Varvarinskaya Processing Plant (SVPP), a part of Metinvest Pokrovskugillia produced more than 2.3 million tons of coal concentrate. At the same time, as of the beginning of December last year, the company produced 5 million tons of coal. A third of the mined coal in 2022 is accounted for by site No. 2.

Metinvest Pokrovskvugillia includes several enterprises of the Pokrovske Coal Group, including the Pokrovske Mine Administration and the Svyato-Varvarynska Concentrator. These enterprises carry out the extraction of run-of-mine coal, its enrichment and sale as coal concentrate.
