Metinvest is developing the concept of a steel quarter for the reconstruction of Bakhmut

Metinvest-SMC, a sales company of Metinvest Group, will develop a concept for rebuilding the quarter in Bakhmut destroyed by the Russians according to the Steel Dream projects free of charge. This is stated in a report by Metivest.Media.

The degree of destruction of the buildings of the Yubileiny quarter in Bakhmut is estimated at 70%. More than 17.5 thousand people lived on the 85.7-hectare area. The neighborhood includes 94 residential buildings with 5-10 floors, five kindergartens, two schools, a cinema and a convenience store.

The concept of the neighborhood’s restoration will be developed on the basis of the Steel Dream projects in compliance with all urban planning and barrier-free requirements and will be in line with current global trends. It is planned to be presented at the end of February 2024.

Bakhmut is the second city after Mariupol to volunteer to restore housing using prefab solutions. Negotiations and work to adapt building designs to local conditions are underway with a number of other affected communities.

«Bakhmut survived one of the longest and fiercest battles in this war. The city has suffered enormous damage, but we believe that peaceful life will return to it. The best solution is to think about rebuilding now, without waiting for the war to end. Metinvest is ready to supply steel for the reconstruction, and we are ready to provide all our experience and expertise so that construction can begin immediately after the victory,» said Tatyana Skrypka, Head of the Construction Sector Project Office at Metinvest-SMC.

In May 2023, Metinvest-SMC presented the Steel Dream concept for rebuilding the country. In total, it includes more than 200 ready-made building projects based on three prefabricated steel elements (prefab solutions): a frame, a module, and a platform. The projects also include a full package of documents, including estimates, construction schedules, planning, and technical solutions.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Ukraine will need about 3.5 million tons of steel to rebuild housing and social infrastructure destroyed by the Russian invasion. This estimate is the basis for Metinvest-SMC’s Steel Dream concept for rebuilding the country.
