As part of the Steel Front initiative, the company strengthened its drone defense capabilities with Sinitsa systems

As part of the Steel Front military initiative, Metinvest Group has donated a large batch of electronic warfare equipment worth a total of UAH 29 million to a brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard. This was announced in a press release issued by the company.

This delivery was one of the largest contributions to the project in the field of electronic warfare in recent months. The equipment covers several levels of protection against enemy drones and allows for the protection of both frontline positions and rear fortifications from attacks. The systems jam drone control signals at different frequencies, which allows for the effective protection of military personnel and equipment.

The shipment included dozens of Sinitsa 3.5K complexes. These stations create local radio jamming zones and block FPV drone control channels. According to the military, the equipment operates autonomously and can be deployed in both stationary and mobile positions.

“An FPV drone is not just a threat. It is a projectile with eyes that hunts for heat signatures. And this equipment is like an invisibility cloak. It saves lives every day,” said the unit commander.

The Steel Front notes that requests for electronic warfare equipment from the front are constantly growing.

“Modern warfare is a battle of technologies. And we cannot allow our soldiers to lose it in the air. That is why we are increasing our support in this area,” said Olexander Vodoviz, head of the Metinvest CEO’s office.

Since the start of the full-scale war, the Steel Front initiative has already provided the Defense Forces with more than 7,000 drones, 6,000 communication devices, hundreds of shelters, armored vehicles, boats, mine trawls, and other equipment. The company has also launched the production of protective screens for Abrams and Bradley tanks. The total amount of aid provided to the army by SCM businesses exceeded UAH 11.3 billion.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Metinvest remains the largest taxpayer in Ukraine’s iron and steel complex: in 2024, the company paid UAH 19.8 billion in taxes and fees, which is 61% of the total amount of payments made by Ukraine’s steel enterprises. In the context of a full-scale war, this is an important contribution to supporting Ukraine’s economy. At the same time, the company continues to help the army and civilians, and is making plans for the future to participate in the country’s post-war recovery.

In the first half of 2025, the company paid UAH 9.3 billion in taxes and fees to budgets of all levels in Ukraine.
