The production of sinter ore for January-November 2023 decreased by 26.1% y/y

In November 2023, Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Plant (KZHRK) increased its production of commercial iron ore from underground mining by 28.6% compared to the same month in 2022 – up to 135 thousand tons. This is stated in the company’s corporate newspaper.

Compared to October 2023, sinter ore production at KZHRK increased by 28.6% in October.

In November 2023, Ternivska mine produced 43 thousand tons of commercial ore, up 7.5% m/m and 43.3% y/y. Kozatska mine increased production by 50% m/m and decreased by 46.4% y/y – up to 15 thousand tons. Pokrovska increased production by 115% y/y and 87% m/m – up to 43 thousand tons. Kryvorizka mine reduced sinter ore production by 15% m/m and increased it by 25.9% y/y – up to 34 thousand tons.

In January-November 2023, the plant produced 2.04 million tons of sinter ore, down 26.1% year-on-year:

  • mine Ternivska – 503 thousand tons (-32% y/y);
  • Kozatska – 425.4 thousand tons (-42.7%);
  • Pokrovska – 488.6 thousand tons (-13.8%);
  • Kryvorizka – 621 thousand tons (-12.4%).

The company’s production plan for mining commercial iron ore in November 2023 was 90% completed.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2022, KZHRK reduced production of commercial iron ore from underground mining by 33.3% compared to 2021 – to 2.89 million tons.

In the 12 months of 2022, the Ternivska mine produced 770,000 tons of marketable ore (-34% y/y), Kozatska – 783,000 tons (-29.1% y/y), Pokrovska – 582 thousand tons (-10.2% y/y), and Kryvorizka – 753 thousand tons (-46.6% y/y).

Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Plant (KZRK) is the largest producer of sinter ore in Ukraine. Most of its production volume is exported to Eastern Europe. KZHRK operates four underground mines. Its reserves amount to 210 million tons of rich iron ores, 58.6% Fe.
