Каметсталь
At the beginning of 2025, Kametstal’s rollers successfully mastered the production of rebar according to the new Polish standard B500SP. This is another step in strengthening the position of Ukrainian steel products in the European market, the company said in a statement.
Unlike other standards, B500SP requirements include not only compliance with geometric parameters and mechanical characteristics, but also special conditions for calibration, angle of rebar cutting and product labeling. This required the involvement of a wide team of specialists: rolling shop technologists, specialists from the rolling mill, the calibration bureau and the process department.
As part of the preparation, technical solutions were developed, rolling patterns were adjusted, rolls were calibrated, and changes were made to the software of the CNC machines. In January 2025, the company produced the first five profile sizes of B500SP rebar on the 400/200 rolling mill: 10, 12, 16, 20 and 32 mm.
In February, Kametstal plans to continue expanding its product line for the Polish market by launching the production of rebar with diameters of 8, 14 and 28 mm. This opens up new opportunities for Ukrainian steelmaking in the European construction materials market.
Earlier, the company has already certified and launched production of B500B rebar with a diameter of 8-32 mm for Polish consumers.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2024, Kametstal mastered the production of 13 new types of steel products, including 12 in the long products segment. The BOF Shop improved the production of square continuously cast billets with improved chemical and structural properties. The mill’s rolling shop added 12 new rolled products, including 9.5 and 11.5 mm rebar for construction.
