Ferrexpo has employed 88 refugees since the beginning of the war

The Ferrexpo mining company has employed 88 internally displaced persons at its enterprises since the beginning of the war. This is stated in the company’s messages on Facebook.

“The Russian invasion forced many Ukrainians from such regions as Kharkiv and Sumy to leave their homes and rebuild their lives in the most difficult conditions in other regions of the country,” the report says.

The new employees took up positions that corresponded to their level of training and skills, including truck drivers, craftsmen, mechanics and medical personnel.

“We will continue to engage evacuees wherever we can as we work together to support Ukraine’s economy and our communities,” Ferrexpo added.

The company created a humanitarian fund in the amount of $12.5 million to provide further support to local communities in the region of operation, as well as to provide wider support to communities throughout Ukraine.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Ferrexpo based in January-June 2022 reduced production of pellets by 16% compared to the same period in 2021 – to 4.8 million tons. The company’s sales in the first half of the year decreased by 21% – to 4.4 million tons.
