Australia canceled tariffs on Ukrainian imports for a year

The Australian government announced the cancellation of customs tariffs on imports from Ukraine for one year. This measure takes effect from today, Minister of Trade and Tourism of Australia, Don Farrell, announced.

According to the minister, the abolition of tariffs on imports to Australia from Ukraine is a key part of ongoing efforts to accelerate bilateral trade and investment relations more.

“The measure, which is part of the package of support announced by the Prime Minister following his visit to Kyiv, will take effect from today. It follows similar actions by our international partners, such as the European Union, and the United Kingdom,” the statement said.

In 2021, Ukrainian imports to Australia amounted to about $122 million.

Earlier GMK Center reported that the United States canceled tariffs on Ukrainian steel for a year. In particular, the US suspended Section 232 tariffs on steel imports from Ukraine.

Also, UK canceled all customs duties and quotas on products of Ukrainian production ahead of schedule. Later, the European Union also decided to cancel import customs tariffs on all Ukrainian exports for a period of one year.
