ArcelorMittal to build new gas control stations at blast furnace №9 and CHPP-3

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih plans to build new gas control points of blast furnace №9 (BF-9) and combined heat and power plant №3 (CHPP-3) of the combined cycle shop. This is reported by Interfax-Ukraine with the reference to «Metallurg» Newspaper.

The existing gas control points for natural gas at CHPP-3 and DP-9 are designed to reduce the pressure of natural gas supplied from the gas distribution station №1 to the steel production to values that determine its consumption by various technological units, and to maintain this pressure stable within the specified optimal limits.

Through the construction of new gas control points, the company plans to ensure uninterrupted supply of natural gas to consumers, reduce the pressure of natural gas supplied to steel production, and ensure energy efficiency in the gas distribution system.

To implement the project, ArcelorMittal is awaiting permission to carry out the planned work from the State Inspectorate for Architecture and Urban Planning of Ukraine.

Construction is planned to be carried out in the conditions of the existing production. The main construction period is 5 months.

As GMK Center reported earlier, ArcelorMittal put into operation a new welding robot-manipulator in the steel construction shop of the Foundry and Mechanical Plant. Now the robot performs welding in difficult-to-access places.

Prior to this, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih carried out scheduled repairs of the 140-ton excavator №55 in quarry №3 of the mining department. In total, 11 excavators of various models with bucket volumes from 5.5 to 12.5 cubic meters are operated in quarry №3.
