In 2025, the company achieved record results thanks to equipment modernization and technological improvements
The Kametstal steel plant continues to strengthen its position in the market, where one of the key trends is the growing demand for continuously cast steel billets produced using the stop casting technology. Thanks to systematic measures and equipment modernization, the company has significantly increased its output of high-quality products. On continuous casting machine No. 1 (CCM No. 1), the plant has reached a level of 15,000 tons of billets per month, which is twice as much as last year, according to a press release.
During the first eight months of 2025, 58,430 tons of billets were produced at CBRI No. 1, exceeding the annual result for 2024 by more than 5,000 tons. An absolute record was achieved in July – 16,160 tons, while last year’s maximum monthly figure was 8,260 tons.
An important factor in this success was the improvement of the parameters for the automatic start of streams during stop casting. While at the beginning of the year, the success rate of the “Autostart” mode was about 80%, this figure now exceeds 90%. This has minimized the human factor and ensured consistently high product quality.
The modernization of equipment also brought noticeable changes. During the first stage of the reconstruction of MBLZ No. 1, frequency converters and cable and wire products were replaced, and the software was updated. This increased the efficiency of the pulling stoves and the stability of casting.
Another important achievement was an increase in the number of melts during stop casting – the average increased to almost six melts compared to 5.3 in 2024. Thus, Kametstal is successfully developing modern technologies, increasing production efficiency, and responding to the growing market demand for high-quality metal.
It should be noted that Kametstal recently successfully mastered the production of 100 mm diameter grinding balls with increased hardness, a product that is critical for the stable operation of mining and processing plants. This is another step by the company in expanding its product range and improving the quality of products in demand by industrial consumers.
