The company has been included in the FT and Statista Europe's Climate Leaders ranking for the third time in a row
Ferrexpo, a leading producer of iron ore pellets in Europe and one of the most stable Ukrainian companies with an international portfolio, has become the only Ukrainian company to be included in the Financial Times and Statista’s Europe’s Climate Leaders 2025 list. This was reported to GMK Center by the company’s press service.
This is the third consecutive recognition of Ferrexpo among the leaders of climate transformation on the continent.
The ranking includes companies that have demonstrated the most significant reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity between 2018 and 2023. The key criterion is the ratio of emissions to revenue. Ferrexpo ranked in the top quartile in its sector, confirming its leadership not only in production but also in sustainable resource management.
Ferrexpo is consistently implementing a decarbonization strategy integrated into its business model. Among the initiatives is the Green Mine program, which involves the electrification of mining equipment, the use of trolley-assist systems, and battery-powered locomotives. This makes it possible to reduce emissions, increase efficiency, and reduce capital expenditures.
The first results are already noticeable: since 2015, the company has reduced gas consumption by 30% by switching to biofuel, and in 2021, it commissioned its own 5 MW solar power plant.
Ferrexpo proves that Ukrainian business can be a global player, responsible and technologically advanced. At a time when the country is facing extraordinary challenges, the company remains a symbol of trust in Ukraine and a benchmark for sustainable development of the entire industry.
It should be noted that Ferrexpo plans to invest $3.3 billion to achieve zero CO2 emissions. Priority decarbonization measures include switching to biofuel for pelletizing, abandoning fossil fuels, and electrifying mining vehicles.
