Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works is implementing energy-efficient measures in its cold rolling shop as part of the Proposal Submission System. This is stated in a press release on the company’s Facebook page.
A separate oil heating circuit with automatic temperature control was installed on the training mills 1700-1 and 1700-2 at the suggestion of the rollers. This measure will keep the temperature within the required range of 45-55°C, which reduces the consumption of anticorrosive oil by up to 0.05 kg per ton of product.
The economic effect of the measure is expected to be over UAH 2.1 million. The initiators of the event will receive a cash reward after the economic effect is confirmed.
At the end of March 2024, Zaporizhstal completed the first stage of the overhaul of blast furnace No. 3. The blast furnace is now operating stably. In April, the specialists are preparing to start the second stage of the restoration work.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2023, Zaporizhstal increased its output by 50.6% compared to 2022, to 7.24 million tons. In particular, the plant produced
Hostile shelling and destruction, interruptions in the supply of raw materials and energy, and disruption of logistics routes due to the blockade of seaports led to a decrease in Zaporizhstal’s production performance compared to pre-war levels. In particular, in 2021, the plant produced 4.5 million tons of iron, 3.8 million tons of steel and 3.2 million tons of rolled products. In 2023, the plant operated at an average of 70% of its capacity.
