Zaporizhstal confirmed compliance with international quality and environmental standards

Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works has confirmed its compliance with the requirements of international quality, environmental, labor protection and energy management standards. This is stated in a message on the company’s website.

This year, the enterprise successfully passed the supervisory audits of the integrated management system for compliance with the requirements of the international labor protection standard ISO 45001:2018 and the energy management system ISO 50001:2018, as well as recertification audits for quality and environment according to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.

The quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems were audited by Bureau Veritas Certification Ukraine specialists at the sintering, blast furnace, steelmaking, hot and cold rolling shops, as well as in auxiliary and energy divisions. They analyzed internal documentation, compliance with the established rules in the work of the divisions, development of new approaches to identifying and assessing occupational health and safety risks, etc.

Representatives of Technical and Management Services checked the operation of the energy system of the blast furnace and oxygen compressor shops, as well as the hot rolling shop and the combined heat and power plant. In particular, the auditors praised the level of the energy saving program.

Based on the results of the audits, Zaporizhstal received new certificates confirming its compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 quality and environmental standards. Also, the Steel Works was recommended to extend the certificates for compliance with ISO 50001:2018 and ISO 45001:2018 standards.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Zaporizhstal has set up the production of hot-rolled steel from structural steel grades. The Steel Works has successfully passed the process of extending the scope of the certificate for compliance of hot-rolled products with the requirements of EN 10025-1 for S235-275 J0-J2 and S355 J0-J2 steel grades.
