Zaporizhkoks allocated UAH 321 million to maintain its facilities in 2024

In 2024, Zaporozhkoks PJSC allocated about UAH 321 million for a program of major overhauls of production facilities, as well as investment projects in occupational safety, information technology, and social services. This is a 25% increase compared to 2023, the company said in a press release.

“One of Zaporizhkoks’ key priorities last year and this year is to ensure the uninterrupted operation of its fixed assets to maintain the company’s performance in times of war. To this end, we continue to invest in programs to support key equipment and important repairs,” said Zaporizhkoks CEO Oleksandr Bekhter.

The key projects for equipment renewal in 2024 include the overhaul of coke oven battery (COB) No. 2 with the relocation of four walls of coking chambers with a budget of almost UAH 72 million. In addition, a coke oven car was purchased to enhance the production capacity of the coke shop, designed to receive and transport coke.

As part of the overhaul program, the company also upgraded coke ejector No. 3 in the coke shop, regenerator No. 11 in the desulphurization shop, pipelines in the recovery shop, and the U-30 charge feeding line in the coal preparation shop, etc. The company also allocated UAH 3.8 million to implement the Working Life program to improve working conditions. During the year, the company implemented a number of investment projects to upgrade its IT infrastructure, occupational health and safety.

In 2025, the company plans to overhaul the KB-2 with the relocation of three partitions, continue the implementation of the Working Life program and a number of projects to maintain equipment for a total of about UAH 324 million.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2024, Zaporozhkoks increased its coke production by 2.1% compared to 2023, to 874.6 thousand tons.

Since 2022, the company has allocated over UAH 360 million for the capital upgrade of the coke shop’s furnace stock. Most of the funds were invested in the overhaul of coke oven batteries No. 2 and No. 5-6. The latest investment projects include the overhaul of coke ejector No. 3 at coke oven battery (COB) No. 5-6 and the overhaul of the U-30 charge feeding line in the coal preparation shop.

Zaporizhkoks is one of the largest coke and chemical producers in Ukraine. It is a part of Metinvest Group. The main consumer of its products is Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works.
