United Mining and Chemical Company (UMCC) entered into a direct agreement on the supply of 80 thousand tons of ilmenite concentrate to American The Chemours, which is part of DuPont Corporation. The company’s website reported about it.
UMCC notes that for the first time in its history they entered the international market as an independent player. On November 14, the State Property Fund of Ukraine, which manages the company, agreed on a contract, however, for its implementation, permission from the State Export Control Service (SSEC) is required – it has not been received yet.
According to the report, despite Russian aggression and the loss of contracts for the supply of products, the company managed to quickly reorient sales of products to Western markets. In the Polish port of Szczecin, 20,000 tons of ilmenite have been accumulated, and another 20,000 tons in the Romanian port of Constanta. As the company notes, the accumulation of the batch was carried out according to the permits obtained for the consignees, and now only the transfer of the goods to the final consumer, The Chemours, should take place. Delivery is delayed by the need to obtain permission to export the batch from the State Service of Export Control of Ukraine.
United Mining and Chemical Company produces titanium raw materials. UMCC includes two branches – Volnogorsk Mining and Metallurgical Plant and Irshansk Mining. The company’s production capacity is more than 500 thousand tons of raw materials per year. UMCC in the summer has arranged the shipment of ilmenite ore through ports in Romania and Poland.
As GMK Center reported earlier, Ukrainian iron and steel enterprises in October 2022 increased exports of titanium ores by 20.8% compared to the previous month – up to 29.33 thousand tons. In monetary terms, exports for this period increased by 6.9% m/m – up to $12.73 million.
