On August 1, 2022, Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) introduced a convention for the transportation of sinter ore to Slovakia. This is evidenced by data on the website of the railway operator.
Thus, the sinter ore transportation is limited to the station Ganiska pri Kosice for the steel plant U.S. Steel Kosice. The restriction will remain in effect until it will be cancelled.
In July 2022, UZ introduced two additional conventions for the transportation of iron ore and sinter ore, as well as pig iron to Poland and Slovakia.
So, from July 12, restrictions on the transportation of pig iron to Poland through the border crossing Mostiska 2 began to operate. Since July 16, the railway operator has limited the transportation of iron ore and sinter ore to the Haniska station near Kosice in Slovakia through Uzhgorod.
In addition, from June 19, 2022, UZ introduced convention for freight transport through the border crossing Izov – Grubieszow (Poland) for iron and manganese ore. The restrictions will apply to the railway stations of Kryvyi Rih and Kryvyi Rih-Golovnyi for the sender ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih.
There are also restrictions on ore transportation to the Czech Republic – to the railway station Trshinec, where the Trshinec metallurgical plant is located. Restrictions began to operate from June 23, 2022 until it will be cancelled.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in July 2022, Ukrzaliznytsia increased transportation iron and manganese ore by 3.2% compared to the previous month – up to 2.03 million tons. In general, UZ transported 10.3 million tons of cargo during the month, which is 9.2% more than in June of this year.
