Ukrainian steelmakers exported 570 ths tons of long products in January-November

In January-November 2024, Ukrainian steel companies increased exports of long products by 20.8% compared to the same period in 2023, to 570.26 ths tons. This is evidenced by data from the State Customs Service.

Wire rod accounts for the bulk of exports (HS 7213) – 240.53 ths tons (+27.9% y/y). Over 11 months, 99.42 ths tons of the product were shipped to Romania, 74.75 ths tons to Poland and 15.51 ths tons to Bulgaria.

The company also exported 127.08 ths tons (+12.1% y/y) of carbon steel wire (HS 7217). The bulk was exported to Poland – 46.51 ths tons, Germany – 24.08 ths tons, and the Czech Republic – 16.29 ths tons. Rebar accounted for another 138.83 ths tons (+26.9% y/y) of exports (HS 7214). The company shipped 50.96 ths tons of rebar to Moldova and 48.76 ths tons to Poland.

In November, Ukraine’s exports of long products decreased by 31.2% compared to the previous month and by 3.5% compared to November 2023, to 42.81 ths tons. Shipments of wire rod decreased by 26.3% m/m and increased by 19.8% y/y – to 17.05 ths tons, wire decreased by 20.1% m/m and increased by 24.9% y/y – to 10.84 ths tons, and rebar decreased by 52.8% m/m and 35.8% y/y to 10.57 ths tons.

Revenues from long products exports in January-November 2024 increased by 18.2% y/y – to $420.99 million, and in November – by 6% y/y and fell by 27.2% m/m – to $32.63 million.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2023, Ukrainian steelmakers reduced exports of long products by 31.4% compared to 2022, to 523.84 ths tons. Steelmakers’ revenue from exports of such products fell by 45% y/y – to $395.15 million. Wire rod (HS 7213) was exported the most during the year, 209.97 ths tons for $131.42 million.
