The main volumes of products were shipped to Romania and Poland
In January-October 2024, Ukrainian steel companies increased exports of long products by 23.3% compared to the same period in 2023, to 527.44 thousand tons. This is evidenced by data from the State Customs Service.
Wire rod accounts for the bulk of exports (HS 7213) – 223.48 thousand tons (+28.6% y/y). Over 10 months, 89.98 thousand tons of the product were shipped to Romania, 73.3 thousand tons to Poland and 13.14 thousand tons to Bulgaria.
The company also exported 116.24 thousand tons (+11% y/y) of carbon steel wire (HS 7217). The bulk was exported to Poland – 42.4 thousand tons, Germany – 22.04 thousand tons, and the Czech Republic – 15.01 thousand tons. Rebar accounted for another 128.26 thousand tons (+38.1% y/y) of exports (HS 7214). The company shipped 43.5 thousand tons of rebar to Moldova and 46 thousand tons to Poland.
In October, Ukraine’s exports of long products decreased by 5.9% month-on-month and increased by 48.8% compared to October 2023, to 62.24 thousand tons. Shipments of wire rod decreased by 14.5% m/m and increased by 25.4% y/y – to 23.13 thousand tons, wire rod increased by 8.5% m/m and 23.2% y/y – to 13.6 thousand tons, and rebar decreased by 8.8% m/m and increased by 272% y/y – to 22.4 thousand tons.
Revenue from exports of long products in January-October 2024 increased by 19.4% y/y – to $388.36 million, and in October – by 50.3% y/y and fell by 3.2% m/m – to $44.81 million.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2023, Ukrainian steelmakers reduced exports of long products by 31.4% year-on-year to 523.84 thousand tons. Steelmakers’ revenue from exports of such products fell by 45% y/y – to $395.15 million. Wire rod (HS 7213) was exported the most during the year, 209.97 thousand tons for $131.42 million.
