Ukraine’s trade turnover totalled $72.6bn in January-August

In January-August 2024, Ukraine’s trade turnover totalled $72.6 billion. This is according to the State Customs Service.

During the first 8 months of 2024, Ukraine imported goods worth $45.1 billion and exported – $27.5 billion. At the same time, taxable imports amounted to $37.8 billion, which is 84% of the total volume of imported goods.

The countries from which Ukraine imported the most goods were: China – $8.9bn, Poland – $4.5bn, and Germany – $3.4bn. Ukraine exported the most goods to Poland – by $3.1 billion, Spain – by $1.9 billion, and China – by $1.9 billion.

In January-August 2024, 65% of the total volume of goods imported was made up of

  • machinery, equipment and transport – $15.5 billion
  • chemical products – $7.8 billion
  • fuel and energy products – $6 billion

The top three most exported goods from Ukraine were foodstuffs ($16bn), iron and steel products ($2.9bn), and mineral products ($2.2bn).

UAH 189.3 million was paid to the budget during customs clearance of exports of goods subject to export duties.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2023, Ukraine’s trade turnover totalled $99.4 billion. In particular, the country imported goods worth $63.5 billion and exported goods worth $36 billion. Taxed imports totalled $52.6 billion, accounting for 83% of total imported goods. Machinery, equipment and transport accounted for the largest share of imports ($19.8 billion), while food products accounted for the largest share of exports ($21.8 billion).
