Product shipments increased by 124% m/m and 47.8% y/y

In March 2026, Ukraine’s steelmakers increased exports of semi-finished steel products by 124.2% compared to the previous month, reaching 138,200 metric tons. The increase amounted to 47.8% y/y. These figures are based on calculations by the GMK Center using data from the State Customs Service.

The main export destinations remain Bulgaria – 66,100 tons (+43.2% y/y; +69.7% m/m), Turkey – 12,070 tons (+20.8% y/y; 0 thousand tons in the previous month), and Poland – 33.66 thousand tons (+427% m/m; +32.1% y/y).

In January–March, Ukraine increased exports of semi-finished products by 9.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching 321,820 tons. On a quarterly basis, the figure decreased by 28%. Exports to Bulgaria totaled 161,610 tons (+27.6% y/y), to Turkey – 61,290 tons (+1.3% y/y), and to Poland – 40,050 tons (+57.2% y/y).

Export revenue for the three-month period rose by 10.1% year-on-year and fell by 27.2% quarter-on-quarter – to $152.33 million; in March, it increased by 120.7% month-on-month and 45.3% year-on-year – to $66.28 million.

As reported by GMK Center, Ukrainian steelmakers reduced exports of semi-finished steel products by 26.4% in 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, down to 1.39 million tons. Export revenue for the 12-month period fell by 28.9% year-on-year, to $659.62 million.
The main export destinations for semi-finished products during the period were Bulgaria – 461,340 tons (-22.5% year-on-year), Turkey – 216,340 tons (+0.3% YoY), Poland – 291,410 tons, and Egypt – 99,260 tons (-72.1% YoY).

In the fourth quarter, exports of semi-finished products rose by 25.4% compared to the same period in 2024 and by 18.5% compared to the previous quarter—to 446,670 metric tons, while revenue from shipments rose by 23.9% year-on-year and 21.9% quarter-on-quarter, reaching $209.38 million.
