The quota is 84.17% exhausted
Ukraine’s steelmaking companies have almost exhausted the country quota for exports of seamless pipes of stainless steel to the European Union (category 22) issued for Q2, i.e. from 1 April 2021 to 31 June 2021, according to the monitoring data provided by Ukrmetallurgprom.
Ukrainian steelmakers exported 2.75 thousand tons of seamless stainless tubes and pipes to the EU out of the quota portion of 3.27 thousand tons. Hence, the quota is 84.17% filled.
Now when the country quota is exhausted, Ukrainian companies can export pipes to the EU under the global quota (on a ‘first come, first served’ basis).
Ukraine’s country quota for exports of plate to the EU (category 7) is 74.71% exhausted as of 1 June Ukrainian companies exported 197.97 thousand tons of rolled products out of 264.97 thousand tons of the quota portion.
The quota for non-alloy wire exports to the EU is 75.66% exhausted. Ukrainian companies exported 13.1 thousand tons of wire out of 17.3 thousand tons of the quota portion.
The largest Ukrainian manufacturer of seamless pipes of stainless steel is Centravis Production Ukraine (Centravis). The Company produces more than 1,000 pipe sizes of more than 100 types of corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant steel grades.
In 2020, Centravis cut production of stainless pipes by 9.3% to 19.5 thousand tons against the past year.
The quota for exports of hollow sections to the EU was exhausted earlier. Ukrainian steelmakers have already filled a 16.4 thousand ton country quota for metal products.
Ukraine has already exhausted its country quota of 64.5 thousand tons for exports of non-alloy and other alloy cold-rolled sheets to the European Union.
As reported earlier, the difference between country and global quotas is that the former can be exhausted before the end of its validity period, with no rush and fear that other countries will be quicker. Yet unused quantities may not be carried over to the following year.
