Třinecké železárny produced 2.4 million tonnes of steel in 2025

The Czech steelmaker Třinecké železárny produced 2.42 million tonnes of steel in 2025 – a figure that remained virtually unchanged compared with the previous year. This is stated in a press release issued by the company.

Last year, the company posted a net profit of 186 million Czech koruna ($8.7 million), compared with 316 million in 2024. Revenue for the reporting period amounted to 44.54 billion koruna ($2.08 billion), down 6 per cent year-on-year.

As Roman Hajde, CEO of Třinecké železárny, noted, this result reflects the reality of the last three years. However, the company continues production and maintains moderate profitability, mainly thanks to consistent cost-saving measures and effective management.

The decline in financial results compared with 2024, he noted, is primarily due to a fall in the selling prices of steel products and weak demand. At the same time, the company faces high costs in the long term, particularly for energy and emissions permits.

According to him, the entire sector is suffering from high energy prices, geopolitical uncertainty, weak domestic and external demand, as well as mounting pressure from cheap imports from countries outside the EU.

Třinecké železárny’s investments last year totalled over 1.5 billion crowns. These were focused primarily on modernising production, reducing operating costs, upgrading equipment, and developing robotisation and automation.

The company is the sole manufacturer of rails and railway components in the Czech Republic. Of the total sales volume in this segment (219,000 tonnes) in 2025, 90 per cent was exported.

It should be noted that Třinecké Železárny has signed a contract to build a new combined cycle power station worth over 4 billion Czech koruna (approximately $185 million). The project is being implemented by a consortium comprising ČEZ ESL and INVELT servis, and the facility is scheduled to come into operation in the second half of 2030.
