Tenaris is investing over $90 million in the modernisation of its pipe plants in the US

Tenaris, an international company and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of steel pipes, has announced the launch of a large-scale investment programme worth over $90 million. The funds will be directed towards modernising the steelworks in Koppel and the seamless pipe plant in Ambridge, both located in the state of Pennsylvania. This was reported by SteelOrbis.

This move forms part of the company’s strategy to improve production efficiency, upgrade technology and strengthen its position as a key supplier to US oil and gas companies amid growing demand. Modernisation work will begin in the coming months, with most projects scheduled for completion in the second half of 2027.

The new programme will complement the $150 million that Tenaris has already invested in these assets since their acquisition in 2020. The current phase of funding covers projects relating to automation, equipment upgrades and improved health and safety standards at both sites. Specifically, the following is planned:

  • the modernisation of the electric arc furnace and the installation of larger-capacity ladles at Koppel;
  • the development of a new storage area for steel billets at Koppel;
  • the creation of a state-of-the-art steel cutting area at Ambridge.

These measures are designed to increase production capacity, improve operational reliability and optimise logistics processes between the two plants.

As reported by GMK Center, Tenaris is investing over 300 million Canadian dollars in the development of the Sault Ste. Marie Industrial Centre production site in the province of Ontario. The project is being implemented with the support of the Canadian federal government and the Government of Ontario and is intended to strengthen the domestic supply chain for pipe products for the country’s energy sector.
