The SBI seized more than 500 tons of Russian steel billet in the port of Odesa region

The products entered the territory of Ukraine in March 2022 for the purpose of transit transportation

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) seized and handed over to the Asset recovery and management agency (ARMA) more than 500 tons of alloy steel billets belonging to Russian enterprises. This is stated in the department’s press release.

The employees of the State Bureau of Investigation discovered and seized steel products on the territory of one of the seaports of the Odesa region. The billet was transported from the Russian Federation in transit through Ukraine in March 2022, after the start of a full-scale invasion.

The total value of seized Russian-made products is more than UAH 4 million.

As GMK Center reported earlier, during the operational measures, the SBI detected and seized it on the territory of the Odesa seaport steel billets and other steel products in the amount of UAH 93 million. Steel products were transiting through Ukraine.

Also last year, the SBI blocked the attempts of illegal export products of the Republic of Belarus through the territory of Ukraine. In particular, the transit of two wagons with 139 tons of steel products was blocked. The products were sent from Belarus in transit through Ukraine to customers in North Africa,

On March 10, the president Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed Law 2116-IX on the compulsory seizure of objects of property right of the Russian Federation and its residents. The decision to confiscate Russian property will be made by the National Security and Defense Council on the proposal of the Cabinet of Ministers.
