The Pinchuk Foundation is launching the first leadership program for Ukrainian veterans at Yale University

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation is launching the Ukrainian Veterans Leadership Program (UVLP)—the first international leadership program specifically designed for Ukrainian veterans, aimed at developing leadership potential through access to world-class educational practices. This was announced in a press release from the Foundation.

The pilot phase of the initiative will involve collaboration with the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs, which trains leaders to address global challenges. The first group of 15 Ukrainian veterans will travel to the U.S. for intensive training as part of this program in late April of this year.

Participants will work with leading faculty and practitioners in the fields of leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making in complex environments. The focus is on developing leadership skills that are universal and applicable in all areas of life—in military service, communities, business, and civil society.

“Those who defended Ukraine have already demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities. They deserve the very best—the best education, world-class rehabilitation, and the highest standards of support in all areas. This leadership program at Yale University gives them access to the best global education,” noted Viktor Pinchuk, a businessman and philanthropist.

As noted by Jim Levinson, Professor of International Affairs and Dean of the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs, the school’s faculty and senior researchers are leading experts in history, economics, political science, and the practice of international relations, so they will offer program participants a fresh perspective on both their past experiences and future opportunities.

The UVLP is an important addition to the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s ecosystem of leadership initiatives. For two decades, the Foundation has supported the development of a new generation of leaders through projects such as the Aspen Leadership Seminars, Zavtra.UA—the largest scholarship program in Ukraine—and the international WorldWideStudies program. The Ukrainian Veterans Leadership Program is also a key element of the Foundation’s long-term strategy for leadership development in Ukraine.

In addition, the new program complements Victor and Olena Pinchuk’s initiatives focused on veterans and military personnel—RECOVERY, POVERNENNYA, and Message from the Frontline.

It is worth noting that the patronage service of the Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe provides individual support to every veteran returning to work after service—the company has deliberately rejected standard approaches.
