The Northern mining allocated UAH 30 million for the energy modernization of pellet workshop No. 2

The Northern Mining and Processing Plant (Norhern GOK) has implemented energy-efficient lighting devices in pellet production workshop No. 2. 30 million hryvnias were allocated to the implementation of the project. Metinvest Kryvyi Rih reports about it on its Facebook page.

5,000 LED lamps were installed at all stations of LURGI 552 A and B burning machines, as well as in the administrative and household building.

Modern lighting has significant advantages. Thanks to LEDs:

  • working conditions improve;
  • the level of security increases;
  • energy costs are reducing.

According to energy experts, the investment will pay off in two years.

“The active implementation of LED technologies is a significant contribution of the Northern mining to the environmental preservation,” the message says.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Northern GOK carried out a quarterly repair of the LURGI 552A roasting machine in the pellet production shop No. 2 for UAH 14 million. Thanks to quarterly repairs, the shop’s specialists are ready to produce up to 500 tons of pellets per hour.

Northern GOK – one of the largest mining and processing plant in Europe. It is part of the Metinvest group. In 2021, the plant increased production of pellets by 20.2% compared to 2020 – up to 6.35 million tons. The output of iron ore for the year increased by 5.2% – up to 13.4 million tons.
