The NEURC has approved an increase in tariffs for electricity transmission and dispatch

The National Commission for Energy and Public Utilities Regulation (NEURC) proposes setting the electricity transmission tariff for NPC Ukrenergo at 903.53 UAH/MWh (hereinafter excluding VAT) effective July 1 of this year, which is 21.62% higher than the current rate. This was reported by Energorforma.

The corresponding draft resolution was approved at the regulator’s meeting on May 26.

For green electrometallurgy enterprises, the electricity transmission tariff is proposed at 535.97 UAH/MWh (+42%). The tariff for dispatching is intended to be increased by 7.83%—to 118.64 UAH/MWh.

Ukrenergo itself proposed increasing the tariff for:

  • transmission – by 29%, to 958.87 UAH/MWh,
  • dispatching – by 55.5%, to 171.12 UAH/MWh,
  • for green steel industry – by 53%, to 579.6 UAH/MWh.

The regulator’s draft resolution is still subject to final approval following discussions.

As a reminder, the NEURC raised the price caps for the day-ahead market (DAM), the intraday market (IDM), and the balancing market effective May 1.

As stated in the regulator’s announcement, the price revision is intended to create conditions for stable market operation amid a generation deficit, as well as to increase importers’ interest in supplying electricity to meet peak demand. The situation on global energy markets was cited as an additional factor putting pressure on stable market operation.
