Repairs to equipment and facilities at other sites were also planned during this production shutdown
Sukha Balka Mine, part of DCH Group, has completed a complex repair to restore a skip hoist at Yuvileyna mine. This is stated in the corporate newspaper DCH Steel.
The main work on the restoration of the machine mechanism was the process of replacing the main bearing. This is a part weighing 4 tons and 1.5 meters in diameter.
At the same time, repairs of equipment and machinery at other sites were also planned during the unit’s shutdown. At the grinding complex, the blade of the P2-15-30 plate feeder was replaced, and metal structures were reinforced with partial replacement of the lining on the sides of the feeder.
The grinding plant repaired equipment and conveyor belts. At the mine transport section, they renewed the track at the horizon of -1420 m along the dumping workings, repaired the ore tipper, replaced the brake system of the equipment, and changed the rail track. Power engineers inspected substations, power transformers, bus bridges and other electrical equipment.
“A total of 50 employees were engaged to carry out the repairs within the specified timeframe. This allowed the company to resume production on time,” the statement said.
Sukha Balka has renewed all the mine skips at Yuvileyna mine. In total, there are two such units in the mine shaft, the first of which was replaced at the beginning of the year and the second in July. Yubileynaya’s skips have unique technical characteristics: 15 meters long, 25 cubic meters in volume and 53 tons of lifting capacity. Typically, miners use skips with a volume of 20 cubic meters.
As GMK Center reported earlier, the mine produced almost 931 thousand tons of commercial iron ore in 2023. Last year, the company operated in the mode of maximum resource conservation. In particular, the company repaired equipment at industrial sites on its own and continued to implement the equipment modernization program.
In 2024, the company plans to increase production of commercial iron ore by 20% compared to 2023, to 1.134 million tons.
Sukha Balka mine specializes in underground iron ore mining and has an annual capacity of about 3.1 million tons, and includes Yuvileyna and Frunze mines.
