Sukha Balka

The company's specialists carry out repairs to the equipment of the crusher and the crushing and sorting factory

The Sukha Balka mine, which is part of the DCH group, replaced the second mine skip at the Yuvileyna mine. In total, there are two skips operating in the mine shaft, the first of which was replaced earlier this year. This is reported in the DCH Steel corporate newspaper.

«Skip arrived at the enterprise back in May. During the preparatory work, its surface was protected from corrosion and damage: a special coating and lining material made of high-strength Swedish steel were applied,» the company notes.

In order to replace the skip, it was necessary to suspend ore extraction at the mine. The dismantling of the old and installation of the new skip was completed in a week. Installation was completed on July 6, ahead of schedule. After successful tests, the unit was put into operation.

The mine is also carrying out repairs to the metal structures of the ore feeder in the underground crusher. At the crushing and sorting plant, a new belt 140 m long is installed on conveyor No. 16.

Yuvileyna skips have unique technical characteristics: 15 meters long, 25 m3 volume and 53 t load capacity. Usually miners use 20 m3 skips.

As GMK Center reported, the mine produced nearly 931,000 tons of marketable iron ore in 2023. During the past year, the enterprise worked in the mode of maximum saving of resources. In particular, at the industrial sites, the equipment was restored with their own hands, and the implementation of the equipment modernization program was continued.

In 2024, the company plans to increase production of marketable iron ore by 20% compared to 2023 – up to 1.134 million tons.

The Sukha Balka mine specializes in underground iron ore mining and has a capacity of about 3.1 million tons per year. It includes the Yuvileyna and Frunze.
