Sukha Balka carried out revisions and repairs of the main equipment шn January

In early January 2024, Sukha Balka mine, part of the DCH Group, carried out an audit and repairs of its main equipment to ensure the company’s continued stable operations. This is stated in the corporate newspaper DCH Steel.

The repairmen worked on cage and skip hoists, checked the serviceability of ventilation units, electrical equipment, intra-mine transport and communications.

«In two weeks, the repair service specialists have completed a large number of tasks that cannot be fully performed in the current production environment. The preventive maintenance and repair work carried out will ensure further stable operation of the enterprise,» said Vladimir Moiseichenko, Head of the Production Department.

At Yuvileyna Mine, the electric motors of the skip hoist and shaft alarm cables were inspected and the face equipment was repaired. At the horizon of -1420 m, the rails of the ore tipper’s access road were replaced, and at the horizon of -1442 m, the plate feeder was repaired.

At Frunze Mine, the company carried out maintenance of the generator-motor group and preventive maintenance on the synchronous motor of the cage hoist, replaced worn-out sections of the mine water pipeline, and performed other important tasks.

The company’s teams completed the planned repairs on time and all divisions resumed production activities on January 15.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2023, Sukha Balka produced almost 931 thousand tons of commercial iron ore. The year-end production of almost 1 million tonnes was made possible by the resumption of operations at the Frunze mine, which was suspended in November 2022 due to constant shelling of the energy infrastructure.

The Sukha Balka mine specializes in underground iron ore mining with a capacity of about 3.1 million tons per year. The mining includes the mines Frunze and the Yuvileyna.
