Some European countries increased steel production in October 2022

Steel production in Ukraine, according to Ukrmetalurgprom, in October 2022 amounted to 318 thousand tons, which is 6.4% less compared to the previous month.

According to WorldSteel Association’s data, in October, French steelmakers increased steel production by 14.7% compared to September 2022 – up to 970,000 tons.

In October 2022, Spain reduced steel production by 9.6% m/m – to 913,000 tons.

Steel enterprises of Italy, according to the Federacciai association, in October 2022, increased steel production by 7.5% compared to September – up to 2.014 million tons. According to WV Stahl, in Germany steel production in this period increased by 10.5% compared to the previous month – up to 3.14 million tons.

However, industry associations record a drop in production in October 2022 compared to the same period last year. For example, in Germany it fell by 14.4%, in Italy – by 9.3%.

As GMK Center reported earlier, global steel production in October 2022 remained at the level of October 2021 – 147.3 million tons. This is evidenced by the global rating of 64 steel-producing countries World Steel Association. In particular, total production in the CIS countries and Ukraine fell by 23.7% y/y in this period – up to 6.7 million tons.
