SMG repaired 37 and modernized 4 vessels in H1

In H1 2021, shipyards of the Smart Maritime Group (SMG) reached pre-crisis volumes of orders for repair and modernization of vessels of various types, according to the press service of SMG.

In H1, 37 vessels were repaired at the Company’s shipyards. High-tech modernization was carried out on four motor vessels owned by a Dutch company.

To date, 15 vessels are under repair and three are under deep modernization at Kherson and Mykolaiv shipyards.

“We are making every effort to maintain a positive trend in increasing the number of orders from Ukrainian and foreign vessel owners. The results of the first six months the current year have reached the pre-COVID level. We also have reason to count on active work and an increase in volumes in H2 this year,” said Svitlana Shott, Marketing Director at SMG.

SMG includes Kherson and Mykolaiv Shipyards created on the basis of Black Sea Shipyard PJSC and Kherson Shipyard PJSC.

In 2020, the Smart Maritime Group modernized and repaired 55 vessels. The Company also built two hulls of chemical tanker for Dutch VEKA Group, Synergy and Monteverdі.

According to estimations of GMK Center, the shipbuilding and ship repair needs of large enterprises do not exceed 20–30 thousand tons of ship steel per annum. Rolled products for SMG are mainly supplied by Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich Steel).
