In 2020, average salaries in Ukraine’s mining & metals sector increased in almost all segments, but a growth was mainly minor. The average salary in the steel industry increased by 3.1%, while salaries at pipe and non-ferrous metals companies slightly decreased.
This was reported by the Trade Union of Metallurgists and Miners of Ukraine (TUMMU).

In 2020, the average salary in industry was ₴12.8 thousand (+8.2%) against Ukraine’s average of ₴11.6 thousand (+10.4%).
In December 2020, average salaries in Ukraine’s mining & metals sector increased in all segments. The highest dynamics was recorded at non-ferrous metals companies, an 23% increase to ₴12.7 thousand against November.
Salaries at mining companies increased by 6% to ₴18.4 thousand over the month, at coke companies by 2.8% to ₴17.7 thousand. At ferrous metals companies the average salary increased by 1% to ₴16.9 thousand, at pipe companies by 8% to ₴14.3 thousand.
The average salary in industry reached ₴14.9 thousand (+15.5%) compared to November, against Ukraine’s average of ₴14.2 thousand (+18.3%).
As reported earlier, in 2019 salaries in the mining & metals sector were up by an average of 25–30%. Salaries of employees of coke plants were the highest in 2019, whereas those of employees of pipe and ferroalloy companies were the lowest.
