In May 2021, average salaries in Ukraine’s mining & metals sector increased in all segments. The highest growth of 8% to ₴20.1 thousand was recorded in the iron and steel segment against April 2021, according to the data presented by the Trade Union of Metallurgists and Miners of Ukraine (TUMMU).

According to the information provided by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in May, the average salary in industry was ₴14.3 thousand (-1.2%) against Ukraine’s average of ₴13.5 thousand (-0.3%). In the construction sector, incomes fell by 0.3% to ₴10.9 thousand, in mechanical engineering by 2.7% to ₴12.7 thousand, in energy by 2.1% to ₴18.1 thousand.
As reported earlier, in 2020, average salaries in Ukraine’s mining & metals sector increased in almost all segments against 2019. The average salary in the steel industry increased by 3.1% over the year, while salaries at pipe and non-ferrous metals companies slightly decreased.
