Pokrovsk Mining to launch additional divisions in July

Pokrovsk Mining and Processing Plant (Pokrovsk GOK) plans to increase production capacity starting from July 2023. This was stated by the technical director of the enterprise Victor Bondarets, it is stated in the press release.

From July 1, Pokrovsk GOK will put into operation the magnetic separation unit (MSU) №2 and the Chkalovsk processing plant (CPP). Currently, these divisions are actively preparing for launch.

At the same time, the railway workshop should inspect and eliminate all defects on the sections of tracks near MSU №2 and CPP, and the team of the Northern Quarry, which is working, will prepare for the shipment of additional volumes of raw materials.

«Every day during the war prepares new challenges for us, which we must overcome with dignity and continue to move forward. The enterprise is not working at full capacity, but still persistently performs production tasks of overburden, iron ore extraction, its transportation and shipment of finished products,» the message says.

A new challenge for the enterprise was the problem of water supply due to the Russians undermining the Kakhovska HPP. Truck tankers of the motor transport workshop are involved in the daily work of water intake and transportation of water to destinations, both within the enterprise and on a city scale.

In addition, work is underway to restore the centralized water supply in Pokrov, in which GOK’s employees are involved.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Pokrovsk GOK was forced to stop power from December 1, 2022, due to the shortage of electricity in the energy system of Ukraine. Previously, since October 1, 2022, the Chkalovska and Oleksandrivska processing plants, as well as the Bohdanivska sinter plant, were forced to stop. The reason for the decision to stop production was not only the shortage of electricity. According to Serhiy Shuvaev, during the months of downtime and until April 2023, the volume of concentrate sales decreased by 6 times, primarily due to a significant decrease in demand for ferroalloys.

Pokrovsk GOK is the largest producer of manganese ore in Ukraine. The main consumers of products are enterprises of the steelmaking and ferroalloy branches of the steel industry.
