Northern Mining repaired the electrofilter on the LURGI 552B roasting machine

The Northern Mining and Processing Plant (Northern GOK) has completed the repair of the electrofilter on the LURGI 552B roasting machine in the pellet production workshop №2. Investments in the repair of the unit amounted to UAH 1 million. This is stated in the company’s press release on the Facebook page.

Among the main works performed by the specialists are the revision of deposition hammers and coronal electrodes, strengthening of support racks, restoration of steel structures of the hull. Inside the filter, the damaged strings were replaced.

Metinvest Promservice’s specialists had been working on the restoration of the electrofilter for a month. All work was performed in difficult conditions – at height and in a closed space in compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.

As GMK Center reported earlier, the Northern GOK allocated UAH 6 million to carry out the second stage of repair of the LURGI 552A roasting machine in the pellet production shop №2. After the resumption of production, the LURGI 552A can produce 500 tons of high-quality pellets per hour without excessive energy consumption.

Before, the plant carried out a quarterly repair of the LURGI 552A roasting machine in the pellet production shop No. 2 for UAH 14 million. Now the second stage of works on the restoration of the unit is being carried out.

Northern GOK – one of the largest mining and processing plant in Europe. It is part of the Metinvest group. In 2021, the plant increased production of pellets by 20.2% compared to 2020 – up to 6.35 million tons. The output of iron ore for the year increased by 5.2% – up to 13.4 million tons.
